  • Overview

The Social Sciences course will give you an in-depth insight into three subjects.

Applied Law (BTEC) will explore how laws are made and interpreted. It will examine how civil law is applied, an introduction to the Law of Tort, and criminal law. Various case studies will be analysed to consider the application of the law in different areas. The course is designed to allow progression onto a Law Degree.

Applied Psychology (BTEC) will introduce the students to sport psychology, health psychology and psychological research. Students will examine different approaches in psychology and apply them to human behaviour such as, aggression, consumer behaviour and gender. This element of the course will enable students to progress onto a Psychology Degree.

Criminology (WJEC) will examine crime scene to courtroom and crime and punishment as well as various different criminological theories to consider why people commit crime. The process from crime scene to court room will be investigated as well as the wider context to crime and punishment. This part of the course will allow students to progress onto a Criminology Degree.
