  • Entry Requirements

    A minimum of 5x Grade 5s, including English & Maths.

  • How will I be assessed?

    To enjoy the subject and be successful you will need to be logical and confident working with numbers and able to analyse what these numbers show. You do not need any previous knowledge of the subject. The aim of the course is to give you an understanding of the concepts and principles that underpin accounting theory and practice and its importance in a variety of organisations. Within the course you will study aspects of both Financial and Management Accounting.

    In Year 1, the course is assessed internally via a formal assessment. In Year 2, there are two written examinations, which will comprise of a mixture of multiple choice questions, structured questions and extended answer questions.

  • Progression Pathway

    This course provides an excellent base for students progressing onto a wide range of degree courses at university including Accounting, Finance, Business Studies, Management and Economics.

    It will also provide an excellent foundation for the further study of Accounting at professional level, as well as equipping you with the essential accounting skills needed in the business environment.

  • Teaching & Assessment

    Runshaw students receive excellent support from Accounting tutors who themselves are also examiners. Furthermore, we regularly have speakers from industry and students are also given opportunity to engage in events to help prepare them for life after college including entering competitions such as The Future Leaders Project and trips to firms including RSM which give insight into their next steps and help prepare them for assessment centres. Students also supported in applying for work experience programmes with some of the biggest names in industry!
